!Friends World

Thanks to those who have written with concern and such nice comments about !Friends World.

I will always remember !Friends as one the first worlds I visited in
Activeworlds. And it was first world I built in (and YES even before
Alphaworld!). I always enjoyed my time spent there. It is a one of a kind
world. And it shall always hold a special place in my heart.

FRIENDS was the first World I explored as a Tourist and was one of the reasons I thought it worth joining ACTIVE WORLDS as a Citizen,and you were so friendly to this stranger!You published a poem of mine ;I felt so welcomed and the Worlds was beautiful I still haven't fully explored it:)) Having just looked at some of the 3D Pictures of it ;I missed quite a few "treats" I will have to devote some time. to explore what I missed before it is no more....... I cannot believe it will be gone soon:((((((((( .I have been a GK only a year and like you, I am worried about the way it "looks" as if AW is going... but I really hope and pray that somehow it will come back and be the Community it was ; if not let's hope that someone like you and FRIENDS will start a new 3D Community as AW used to be... I will be one of the first to sign up if so:)) So remember me and I will come like a shot!!.. In the Meantime thankyou for all the pleasure and entertainment that you and your World has provided to so many for so long.. Love and Hugs.

!Friends was just what the name implied: A gathering of friends who would spend their time chatting about life, the universe and everything. I used to sit for hours and just while away the time talking with Steller, Aine, Fox of the Wind, MacB, and whoever else happened by... My favorite times there, I think, were when I'd chat with Stell, watching her tweak some new object or build some addition to the world. I miss those days. Well, se la vie! Farewell, !Friends! I think I shall not again see the likes of thee. But at the same time, let's look ahead to the future. AWCorp may have it's head firmly implanted in it's collective bung, but there are others who are not so shortsighted... Maybe one day, a new friends can arise from the ashes of the old, founded in a new and better technology; one that is even more transparent to the people who inhabit this place and become a part of the family that would be the future world of !Friends.

Dear Steller,

I can not believe !Friends is closing. It was there from my start in Active Worlds and was one of the reasons I loved Active Worlds so much. I remember coming on everyday after school and going across the water on the hot air balloon to you little spot and chatting. I remember how you were kind enough to make me and others custom avatars. I remember how great it was building in your world. I know we have had our problems but !Friends was always a pretty meaningful world to me and I will miss it.

Friends was the very first world I ever went to
after I got AW running I thought the name was cool so
I went in.

      During the time in the world I found myself
in front of the webcam pictures. then about that time
Aine or Mac or someone :-) came on and we starting
talking. I asked who the world owner was and they said
it was Steller. And just about at that time she came
on and I did not know it. Well I starting saying how a
wonderful world she had. and she said thanks (for
something like that). Scared the heck out of me. :-)

Thanks to Steller I became a member of AW in October
of some year :) and ever since then I stayed in
Friends.

       I will sure miss that place.

*Hugs* I don't want you to leave :( Had many great memories in !Friends, the best ones of my time in AW. You have been like a mom to me and I am really gonna miss you hehe getting teary eyed now. Just hope you have fun and keep in touch through e-mail. Can't believe I am writing a goodbye letter to you wish this day would of never come.
